I just wanted to post this on here cause I'm particularly proud of how it turned out. I think this is my favorite part of our house. The big picture in the back is my picture of the Timpanogos Temple (Which is where we got married) that TR got me for my birthday. We got the Christus for Christmas from Dad and Amy, I got the willow tree nativity from TR's mom for Christmas, the frame in the middle says "Family, the center of life's meaning" and the pictures on the side are some of our engagement pictures that were on the table at our wedding. I just wanted to share it with those who haven't seen it. It's in a central place in our home, just as Jesus Christ is the center of our lives and marriage. We love Jesus, and He loves us too.
We Love Jesus

The Incredible Shrinking Dog!!
I'm going to tell you a little story about my incredible shrinking dog. Her name is Mimi, and when she gets wet she shrinks!
The other day Mimi and her baby brother Linus went outside for a potty break. They were very anxious to get out of the room they had been in for most of the day they sat right down at the door the first time they were told. The sun had been shining all day long and as a result some of the snow had melted leaving the ground wet and muddy. When Mimi came back inside her paws were all muddy! So Mommy (that's me) decided that Mimi needed a bath. Daddy (that's TR) wiped up the kitchen floor while mommy got the water running at just the right temperature.
Mimi was all fluffy, though a little matted since she hasn't been brushed in about two weeks.
As soon as the water hit her though she shrunk to almost half her normal size! She became about as thin as a greyhound!
After she was all dry daddy brushed her and now she's as soft and fluffy as ever!Posted by Rachel And Thomas at 8:57 PM 0 comments
Last Of The Big Spenders
Here are some of our biggest purchases of the year! We'll start at the beginning (cause it's a very good place to start) and go to the end (since that seems the practical place to finish).
Shoes for me! TR bought me some new shoes for our "Anniversary" (we went on our first date a year ago) $7.50 at Famous Footwear!
A SNOW SHOVEL!! I didn't realize how much we would need one of these, and I'm sure glad we found one at Home Depot. IFA didn't even have one!
A heater! It's so nice to have a house with central heating, but TR often gets too warm while I'm still freezing. So to accomidate both of us, TR bought me a little heater. Hopefully it will keep our gas prices down.
Linus was interested in the heater too. He knew better than to put his nose on it though.
TR even read the instructions! YAY!
Digital...Ooooo.
Pretty.
We really have to thank the Martineaus for this one. This is what we got from them for our Wedding/Christmas present. Thank you! We fully enjoy and love it!
Linus got a new Kennel! He outgrew Mimi's old one so fast. He could barely fit in it anymore. This one is over twice the size of the old one! Hopefully he won't outgrow this one for quite a while if ever.
Linus AND Mimi fit in this one at the same time! TR likes to call this their mug shots or prison photo. Linus is getting SO big!! He was half that size not even a month ago! I can't believe it!Now for our only really "For Fun" purchase. I'm gonna put in a series of pictures. Lets see if you can guess it before you get to the last one.

If you didn't get it from that last one here's a full shot of the box.

That's right, we got rock band! And we LOVE IT!! I love that we can play it together and the most of the music in it is good stuff. TR is usually on drums and I usually take over the guitar (mostly cause it's easier.)Posted by Rachel And Thomas at 8:17 PM 0 comments
TR's Hair
So a while back I wanted to get my hair re-done (I haven't had it done since my birthday and it was FAR over-due) so when TR and I were talking about it he mentioned that he had never done anything with his hair but get it cut and wouldn't mind trying something new out. So we called up Sarah soon after, and his description of what he wanted her to do with it was "Surprise Me." So last Thursday we went over and this is what "Surprise Me" turned out to be!

One Year Ago!
Today is TR's one year anniversary from the day he stepped off the plane and back into real life from his mission! Wow! Time flies! Lets do a little recap of his mission shall we?
Disclaimer: At this point I turn the computer and blogging experience over to TR! I am not responsible for anything he chooses to put on here.
How do you sum up 2 years as dynamic and life changing as a mission? There is so much to say and so much i can include but there isn't time or space to put every crazy story, great time, sad time, friend or foe. So for sake of time it'll have to be a brief overview. All right then lets start at the very beginning shall we?
Bottom row: Elder Seegmiller, Elder Capua, Elder York, and Elder Corroles.
My First area was Burien. Its a small neighborhood in the poor side of south Seattle. It really is a lovely place with some great people. I have some great memories of my time there. My companion was Elder Hilsabeck from Las Vegas, NV. we sure had some great missionaries in that zone.I met great people we even baptised one his name was James he was 85 years old and was referred to us after we got to know Sister Mary-Louise Botler a colorful 70-year-old lady from Alabama. The Wei family was also good to us she was Vietnamese and made some great food. It is at her house that I got my first real taste of exotic foods, pig skin ears and intestines, cow tongue and tendon, chicken gizzards and feet, and jellyfish. It was a great ward and the beginning of a great adventure. Looking back at it all it was a great adventure to leave behind everything I knew and jump into something and somewhere so much bigger than anything I had done before. Really when I think of Burien I remember how every day was an adventure every thing was exciting and I was in an exciting new place.
After 6 months in Seattle proper, I was transferred to Federal Way. A small suburb between Tacoma and Seattle. It truly was a suburb, there were houses everywhere. We covered a few square (at least as square as things can get in Seattle) blocks. Surprisingly my companion at that time was Elder Brusch, my old MTC Companion. We used to joke that we were both co-junior companions with no senior companion to guide us. We met some great families there and that's where I spent the holidays. We really had a great time, we taught many people and helped many less active and non active members come back to church. My second companion in that area was Elder Okano of San Jose, CA he was a little Japanese elder, he weighed 110 pounds. He was a lot of fun and he taught me a lot about life and happiness. He taught me that we make the situation positive or negatives, it all depends on how you look at it and how you react. President Newell from the mission presidency put it: life is 10% what happens to you 90% what you make of it. Those were some great times and that rounded out my first year.
I was then transferred to the south end of that Zone to serve in Auburn. Its a small run down type of town not as affluent as Kent but had some great people. I only served a single transfer in this area with Elder Preston from East Carbon, UT. We tried to help the people we could.
In summary, My mission was the hardest and most trying time of my life. It forced me to grow in ways I never thought people could grow. It made me stretch and see more than I could ever have seen on my own. And though it was hard work and at times discouraging, and even though, personally, some of my darkest moments were on my mission, I became for a brief few years a direct servant of our Master Jesus Christ and was placed as an under-shepherd to teach the souls that I was foreordained to teach. It was the best opportunity for me to learn who I really am and how I fit in the plan of my Father in heaven. I learned to lean on His arm, to follow His spirit and to walk the path that our Saviour led. Even though I have some regrets about my mission, and I look back and wish I could have learned those lessons an easier way; I know that my mission helped me to be who I am today. I know that through the grace of God and His tender mercies, serving my mission helped to bring Rachel and I together.
I think it is only right to end with my testimony of my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I know personally that he lives, and that he is always near us. I know that he loves me, and I have felt his arms of love lifting me. I know his voice, I have heard him and I can say that I never wish to stray from Him. I know with all my heart that there is a Prophet who leads this church and that the spirit watches over all of the Lord's saints. Young and old, bond and free, rich or poor. We are all His, and He will always watch over us. I know one day that we will all meet before his feet and I will have joy in seeing all of my family there.
I share this in the name of my Beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen.

We are Officially Moved In!
We finally moved! We're out of our apartment, which we loved dispite all of it's little (and sometimes big) flaws, but we're SO glad to be in the little blue house! Here's some pictures of our adventure.
All our stuff (minus furnature) fit in one room! It's amazing how much stuff you don't have when you pack it all up!
All our big stuff fit in the short room though.
We had a game plan written out on our whiteboard for where everything should go...it didn't work out very well. Oh well. Everything got moved and all was well.
Still, when it came time to load stuff up and take it over to the other house, it took 3 trips in Nate's Car and ours, but also three trailer loads!
Linus didn't like the idea of everything changing on him again, so he spent most of the move in his kennel.

By the end of it all, Linus was exausted. His favorite place to sleep now is under the desk or table with his head resting on Mommy's feet.
Mimi and Linus love their new house too, especially the big fenced in back yard that comes with it! They love to just go and run and play and run and play (until Linus gets cold. Mimi could be out there all day if we'd let her.) And it's nice for mommy and daddy too, cause we don't have to take them out on a leash at 8 in the morning!Friday, January 04, 2008
