This last semester I spent quite a bit of time at Tim's house studying, or just to play. Mabs and I formed quite a bond. I love this little wild child. She makes me laugh in a way that no one else has quite been able to match. She's definitely a little spot of sunshine.

Growing up I always remember Dad taking us up to the cemetery to put flowers on our loved ones graves. We'd always go up to Aunt Gwen's big house that was always covered in purple and smelled...like Aunt Gwen. To this day, I can remember the smell and always think of her when I see something really really purple. Then we'd head down the hill to the cemetery. It was always so fun to hear dad tell stories about people he went to school with or knew in the army, or just the people around.
We always go to where Grandma Laura, Mormor, Morfar, Nana, and Uncle Dale (Aunt Gwen's husband) are buried. I always feel a certain spirit here. It's a special place for me. Even when we're running after kids, or worrying about the headstones moving (it's on a hill, so they move sometimes) or whatever else is going on (Madaline yelling "Daddy! I need to go Potty!" sticks out in particular) there is always a special feeling in my heart at this very special place.
After we hear some stories about the people buried around my grandparents, everyone piles into their respective cars to follow dad on the great McAllister hunt. Dad can't ever quite remember where they are (or if he does, he doesn't show it, and hasn't for as long as I can remember). Dad's grandma was Ellen (Ella) McAllister. It was so fun to sit there on this warm sunny day with everyone that could make it, and listen to Dad and Uncle Dave tell stories about their grandma. Dad told us all the geneology, and stressed how important it was that we all remember where we came from.
While dad was telling us stories, this handsom young man and his family came right to where we were sitting talking about the McAllisters. They asked us how we came to this particular spot, and we did the same. Come to find out this spring chicken is Dad's Grandma Ellen's cousin. It was so neat to be able to meet up with this living part of our geneology just because we were in the right place at the right time.I especially love the kids. It's so fun to see the older kids just sit and talk like adults, and see the younger ones get to interact with each other. It's fun to listen to the mommies and daddies try to tell their kids why the cemetery is such a special place, even if they don't quite understand, or have the attention span to get it. I really look up to all these great people in my family who are teaching me how to be a great mom when my time comes. It's comforting to know that I have so many great examples.
I'm also greatful to be able to do this with my family. I want to be able to tell my kids the stories about the great people that went on before them,a nd before me. The tales of our pioneer ancestors. It's a great opportunity, and who better to share it, and make memories of it with than my family?

I know, I know. Father's day isn't for a few more weeks, and I know TR technically isn't a father, but he will be someday. Since TR and I had some extra cash this month due to my student loan, I decided to spring for Father's Day early, and got him a little surprise.
At our party last week I couldn't help thinking how fun it would be if we had a Barbecue and could just grill up some hamburgers (it didn't help that someone in our neighborhood was grilling something while I was setting up for the party). TR is the BBQ man, so it seemed only appropriate that he got one for Father's Day! I was going to take pictures of him and Sam setting it all up, since it was very entertaining to watch, but I got to talking, and the camera was inside, and one thing led to another...and I forgot.
He adores his new toy, and has used it almost every day since we got it. It'll get some good use this summer for sure! I love you honey! Happy Father's Day.

Last week we had a big party for Dalan's birthday. We had a bonfire, hotdogs, lots of people, and of course, S'mores. Dalan got to flirt with his new friend (and my old one) Samantha from next door. We had a great time. I can't believe how big he's gotten.
As a salute to the end of my semester (and because my psychology teacher was crazy) I burned my psychology notes! I can honestly say I didn't learn anything new in that class, and it was a chapter in my life that I didn't mind seeing burned to ashes.
Dalan was sitting on my lap while we were watching the pages curl in the flames and he said "Angel! That paper has words on it!" when I explained what it was he said "Oh Angel. Burning books is bad business." I told him it wasn't really a book, and that we shouldn't burn books and he said "But you can cause you're a grown up and this class made you sad, right?" So cute!
It was a great time! I'm glad everyone came out! I feel kind of bad that I don't have pictures of Dalan's face when he pulled out his cool dinosaur toys TR and I got him for his birthday, or when we brough his cake out to him and everyone started singing. I was having such a good time I completely forgot my camera. Too bad! Next time I'll remember!

Finals are over!!
No more of this semester!!
*insert happy beyond all reason face here*
I promise I'll get back to the blogging of all the great and wonderful things we've been doing... or rather that we will be doing over the next two weeks, but as for now, I need to just veg. Relax a bit.
I will say that this semester had it's good times (mostly my evening classes if I'm honest), but it also had it's really bad times (psychology....and math....) BUT it's over now! Hooray! And I get two whole weeks of summer before I'm back to school, but only three days a week, so I'll still get to have a little bit of a summer, which is lovely.
For now though- I'm going to watch a movie and cuddle with my husband. He deserves some quality time after a semester like this.

Today TR and I added to our family! No, we didn't have a baby, and we branched out from dogs. We got ourselves a pair of Zebra Finches!
